Hotel Prices on the Rise?
It has been reviled that visitors are paying more money to stay in a hotel in York than the likes of Edinburgh and even London. The report came from an internet survey which of course has been heavily criticised by the local tourism of York.
The report has took information from Hotel.com’s hotel search which claims the average price being paid for a hotel in York is £103.
June Nelsey (chairman of the York hoteliers group) has said: "It is a nonsense and hardly worth responding to. I do not think they have a Minster in Luton, or city walls, or river boat trips. York is highly competitive."
She gave several examples of hotels being no were near that price mark one of the hotels named was the “three-star 63-room Elmbank Hotel in The Mount, a refurbished 18th century building which is a 10-minute walk from the Minster and the Shambles, starts at £36 a night per person”.
One of the managing directors of hotel.com David Roche has said Prices paid by travellers to Britains major tourist cities are rising fast, with rises of one fifth and more over three months in many centres."
