My father and his friend have just returned from five nights at this guest house. They both said the room was spotless. The shower and toilet were in a cupboard and was very very small. The sink was what you would call a handwashing sink. But it was clean. However the food was terrible. You had to order your evening meal on that same morning, which is fair enough for a small guesthouse. But the food was terrible. I suppose if you like oven chips and vegetables which you cannot get your knife into then ok. My father and friend had to spend more money eating out rather than going back to a decent meal. Would certainly not be going back to this place.

I have stayed at the Glendene, on many occasions over the years, originally on recommendations, for various working/holiday commitments. I have found Jan to be THE best host you could ask for, and the accommodation, cleanliness, breakfast and overall standard to match her service and friendliness entirely. I look forward to visiting the island for that reason and have recommend the Glendene, and Jan, to anyone else visiting repeatedly. You will have a wonderful stay! Sarah

My friend, her daughter and myself stayed at the Glendene from the 25th to the 28th September. The weather was great, the island was great and the Glendene was great! Jan gives each visitor a warm welcome, we were made to feel really at home. She takes the time to introduce other guests to each other, and is a mine of information on the island and its attractions. My room was not actually on suite, but i had a bathroom just across the corridor for my own exclusive use.
My room was comfy and very clean, with tea/coffee making facilities.
Breakfast is very generous, cereals, cooked, yoghurt's, toast etc and plenty of tea and coffee.
We did opt for the evening meal one night, and it was one of the best roast dinners we have ever tasted! With a glass of wine to go down with it, plus coffee, it was all very good value.
All in all, it was a really lovely long weekend.
Thanks Jan, would definitely love to come back again one day.
