My mom and I stayed here for 2 nights in early August 2006. Unlike other reviews, we had no problems with the front desk. We were able to get a room before check-in time. Our room was small but the bathroom was huge in comparison. We had problems with the central heating in the room (yes- it was that cold in August!). Instead of giving us a new room, they brought us a portable heater. It did its job...our room was nice a warm within minutes. There is a problem with noise though. The hallway creaks loudly when people walk by.
Our package was a bed and breakfast that also included dinner the first night at the Chisholm restaraunt. Dinner was awful!! Don't waste your money to eat there. We ate at the "Great Wall" the next night after asking the concierge for recommendations for chinese food. The restaraunt was just a few blocks up on Lothian Road and we were pleased with his recommendation. For breakfast, there is a great spread available.
You can't beat the location though. Everything is about 10-15 minute walk away. Make sure to walk to Marks and Spence on Princes street to change your money. They do not charge you a fee.
