Just had a short break at the Harlands Hotel, from the moment we walked in we felt at home. Lovely comfortable room with the best seaview in Blackpool. Food really good, home cooking comfortable bar and the prices are good even without the Happy HourS. A credit to the owners we'll be back soon.

Having just returned from staying at the Harlands Hotel, I find it hard to believe the review for the hotel on the Clarksons website described as a'warm and friendly atmosphere'. I would change that to miserable and unwelcoming. From the time we got there to the time we left i dont think i saw any of the staff crack a smile. I was left with the impression that we were all an inconvience and they couldnt wait to get rid of us. NOTE TO THE HOTEL - A SMILE COSTS NOTHING BUT MEANS EVERYTHING!

Just returned from my recent stay at the Harlands. Me an my husband had an excellent time at this hotel. We had a four poster suite bedroom over looking the sea front. The meals at this hotel were suberb, always hot, plenty to choose from and five courses. We also had the luxury of a pound bar from 3pm till 10pm every night. The hotel also provided entertainment every evening which was well worth watching. On arrival we were greeted my a member of staff who showed us to reception and our bedroom whilst they also carried our luggage for us. The price of this holiday was extremely cheap and therefore we could not believe the overall package the hotel gave us. I really can not believe how they can offer such a holiday for the price we paid. I see this as a compliment to the hotel and friendly members of staff and we are sure to return in the very near future. Best regards and a pleasure to stay at the Harlands

Have just returned from 4 nights at the Harlands Hotel and having read the reviews here, before hand ,I cannot believe that it is the same hotel.
Hotel is located in Bispham, miles from the centre of Blackpool, in fact am surprised it has a Blackpool postcode. There is an excellent sea view but that is the only thing i could agree with.
Whilst the rooms were clean, some are in desperate need of a refurb (as are most of the public areas). Some rooms light & airy but others dark & dated (weirdly I had what appeared to be the best bathroom but the worst bedroom).
Not made to feel very welcome , certainly not home from home, as for the food - must have missed the '5' course meal , unless you count 1 jacobs cream cracker & a wafer thin piece of cheese,an actual course.
There was little choice and certainly not the fresh fish etc mentioned in an earlier review. Most meals were luke warm and if 'home cooked' - well!!! Must say the waiting staff in the dining room - excellent.
Getting to and from the 'Tower' etc a nightmare after dark. The bus service stops, very few trams (had to walk to Bispham station, about 15mins away) and the traffic builds up for the Illuminations,it took the best part of 1.5 hours to walk to the frony ( cenral pier).
Have been to Blackpool several times and stayed in a variety of places (good & bad) but this hotel does not live up to the reviews show here.

We stayed in the Harlands hotel last march, the hotel was ok, bit tatty but you expect that on cheap holidays, the pound bar was daft,we had to return the glass back before getting another drink, I found glasses dirty, and although it said in the brochure the pound bar stopped at 10pm it actually stopped at 9pm, I found the staff quite miserable, and being vegetarians were given no choice at all, for breakfast we had same as everyone else minus the meat, so much smaller portions, why in gods name could they not even throw in a couple of veggy sausages, they had them there as we had them for evening meal,we never had clean towels all the time we were there, and since we like to shower twice a day I found that disgusting, we put them on the floor to be changed, but all they did was to put them back over the bath,we did not enjoy Blackpool at all, and the hotel did nothing to make the stay any better.

Accomodation was poor having a double bed in a single room. Tea making facilities in front of TV until a new TV was installed then placed on a poky bedside cabinet. Very cramped and unsuitable for two people. Food could have been much better. Electric extension lead all the way round the room is this safe?

just returned from our stay at the Harlands Hotel, we travelled from wales, and i must say we had a great time at this hotel, reading the above mixed reviews, i would like to clarify that this is a lovely, friendly, family run hotel and with the price we paid i was suprised at the fantasic standard of the whole experience. the food was great, the bar was cheap (and had a wide variety) the rooms were clean, and not too small, they was ample space for the amount of time we spent in there. the staff we very pleasant and we had good entertainment and we even played a bit of bingo.
i will just say that we got alot more than expected for our money, and will definatley be returning soon.

we recently went on a clarksons trip to the harlands and had a great time. we had a nice seaview room and a table for 2 in the dining room and the staff were polite and helpful all weekend. we had 2 nights of entertainment and we had a pound bar from 10am till 9pm thats 11 hours.we saw all the staff laughing and joking with the customers and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves except for a couple of people who moaned when the pound bar finished.i think m means moaner on a previous comment.we had 2 nice breakfasts and 2 nice evening meals and we had great value because the weekend was really cheap.even after the pound bar finished we still went to the bar because the drinks were still cheaper than the pubs.we even laughed at the moaners sitting there with no drinks because they wouldnt pay full price after the eleven hour pound bar had finished.thanks to all the staff and the entertainers for giving us a great weekend only spoilt by the misery moaners .keep smiling val & jim ( ps see you in july for a week )x

with reference to the above review:
i stayed in the harlands hotel in blackpool recently, my party had the whole hotel for 5 days and we have nothing but good things to report.
the rooms are all spotless and are cleaned every morning.
how anybody could complain about the food, bar & entertainment i have no idea.
FOOD: all fresh home cooked meals. full english or continental breakfast, with waitress service. and for evening meal our choices ranged from fresh fish to good homemade steak pie with starter and sweet, again full promt waitress service. had no complaints what so ever.
BAR: found the bar service perfect. we were also on the cheap bar and how they can afford to do this is beyond me. there is a full range of beers/cider/spirits/soft drinks and wine, the young lady who was working behind the bar always had a smile on her face, and was very kind and polite.
ENTERTAINMENT: ok, so if you call an ex Eddison Lighthouse member NON EXISTANT then you obviously dont know what to expect when you stay in Blackpool, he was absolutely fantastic, we had a fantastic evening with John D Scott, the best entertainer we hav ever seen.
The staff at the hotel would go out of their way to accomodate any of our needs, and this small family run hotel most definatey not deserve the abouve review.
I would HIGHLY reccomend this hotel, take this from some one with taste and manners.
Thanks to all at the Harlands Hotel for a great time... we will be back!!

I am a regular reviewer of hotels I stay at, and i have been positive of most.
But The Harland's hotel has to be on of THE worst hotels I have stayed in, and I felt i had to offer my penny's worth...
I went with a coach company as part of a 4 night stay at the hotel. Upon arrival we had to queue outside the hotel for 20 minutes before we received our room keys..and as we checked in we had to order our evening meal, with a mere 2 choices of either salad or "roast turkey". I will come back to this later !!
The hotel bedroom was the one plus point of the stay - a wonderfyl seaview and an LCD Television mounted on the wall with a few satellite channels. But the decor was in bad need of updating - the room was very outdated.
And in our 4 night stay not once were the towels changed or the bed made up - only the bins were emptied.
Restaurant service - now I have to commend the young girls and lads who served everyone. Usually only 3 on at a time, they tried their best bless them. But they were literally running around the dining area trying to keep up with serving - they were throwing food at you such was their haste.
Dinner and breakfasts were very rushed, as though they wanted you in and out as quickly as possible.
Dinner - a supposed 5 courser - consisted of a salad (whether you wanted it or not) usually lukewarm soup, and the roast turkey meal on our first night was just processed meat from a tin with far too much gracy on it, surrounded by hard undercooked vegetables. The following night we had roast lamb with CHIPS !! It was awful.......and as soon as a meal was finished, the next cousrde was served within seconds. From having my first course, i was eating my fifth course within 20 minutes, and when i asked for a second cup of tea, the waitress frowned, and tutted. Too much hard work.
The manager of the hotel was rude and extremely unpolite . It was altogether an unpleasant place to stay and i could think of so many better places in Blackpool to stay. Give this place a wide berth !!

Just returned from a coach trip to the Harlands Hotel. The staff were great, food great (too much for me at times) and with good entertainment. Particularly the singer on Monday evening. Nothing was too much trouble. I would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel in the future.

The hotel is located where you have a lovely view of the seafront and the owner and their family can't do enough for you-they were very friendly and tried to do their best to accommodate you. The food was lovely and evening entertainment was very good. The rooms were very clean and even though they were quite small you had what you needed, would definitely stay here again!

It's a hard thing to please everybody, but after our recent stay at this little friendly, family run hotel,we would like to add our comments.Staff being all family members were nothing but polite, helpful and obliging.Rooms were clean and comfortable after all it was good value for what the holiday cost.Food was lovely and the entertainment was adequate considering it was free along with cheap drinks, which has been commented as slop. However having been in the trade myself for 20 years was anything but slop. Both my wife and myself cannot quite understand what some of the moaners amongst us, want to keep them happy. We at some time in the future will most definitely return to this Hotel.Thank you Graham and your lovely family including the shy young waitress who gave me that big piece of cake with ice .cream, thank you darling keep up the good work.Taff.
