Phoned and booked one nights stay in this hotel earlier this year for a trip on 15 Dec 07. Everthing was fine, there was to be three couples staying for a pre Xmas treat. The receptionist asked us for £20pp deposit, which i did immediately over the phone with my visa. I received a call from the manager on sunday 25 nov, explaining that the hotel was going to be closed that weekend for essential maintenace. She was very apologetic about this, and as a compensation, she would be moving us to the Edwardian Hotel also upgrading us to 'Sea Views'! My initial reaction was disappointment, but at least we had somewhere to stay at such short notice. So I let her transfer us. Only to put down the phone and look online at the reviews for the Edwardian. They were a very mixed bunch of reviews, ranging from average to not very good at all. So I instantly phoned back to the Georgian and said that we wouldn't be staying at the Edwardian, and could I be reimbursed for our deposits of £120.00? I was informed that that wouldn't be a problem and my card would be credited the following day as the day in question was still a Sunday! After a week had passed and no funds had been transferred back in to my account i phoned back up. Where the manager then told me "well i did it the day previous so it should be in your account now". So once again I thought no more about it until the following week when once again my statement came with no refund on it. So I phoned back up only to be told that there was a problem with the refund transaction and that the matter had been passed to head office, where a cheque for the refund would be allocated. When I asked for a number for the head office i was told that i couldn't have it, because it was a personal number! When i voiced my concerns regarding this, I was put on hold, where i was to stay for fifteen minutes until i finally hung up!
As of today 4.24pm Thurs 6 Dec, I have not received my deposit back which i willingly gave immediately when asked to. If the situation changes and i do receive it shortly i will write back here informing people, but until then i would be very careful of this hotel and paying any deposit to them!!
